This thriving suburb of Pinjarra is located in greater Mandurah. It is more than 80 kilometres into Perth, and has a population of over 4,200.

History

The town is close to the site of the famous Battle of Pinjarra. Up to 40 First Peoples were killed by British settlers during fighting in 1834. Early maps of the area show reference to the town.

It is thought that the town prospered because of the rich soil and pasture land in the area. Many European settlers established homes there and, by the turn of the century, there were more than 400 people in residence.

Today Pinjarra offers a host of amenities including a shopping centre, supermarket and liquor store. Its location near Australia’s fastest growing city, Mandurah, means the town of Pinjarra is likely to experience another population boom.
