History

The first person to settle in the area was Pemberton Walcott. The town is named after him.

Sleepers for the Trans-Australian Railway were made here. Two sawmills were built in 1913 to supply the railway. Their location was chosen to ensure there was enough water, and that it was easy to get wood logs to them for processing.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

There are a number of tourist attractions in the Pemberton area. For something a little bit different visit the Gloucester National Park. There are three karri trees with metal rungs that enable you to climb them. They have lookouts in the branches at the top.
