Parmelia is a suburb to the south of Perth that has a population of 6,000 people. It is considered to be a prosperous, active town, with lots of families living there.

History

The town was named after the first ship that arrived in the area in 1829 to settle the new colony at Swan River. The ship, the Parmelia, was carrying the state’s new Governor and his wife, James and Ellen Stirling.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Today Parmelia is a thriving suburb, close to a number of schools, parks and a new shopping centre.

There are many sporting opportunities on offer including a gym, swimming pool, spa and sauna, basketball and soccer.

The centre is proud to consider itself the major fitness and recreation facility for the area.

The town is just a short drive away from Rockingham Beach. It was recently awarded the honour of being the state’s cleanest beach.
