Nollamara is a growing suburb, located 10km from Perth. It is in the local government of the area of the City of Stirling and is home to around 10,000 people.

History

Nollamara is the native word for the Black Kangaroo Paw plant, a herb which is common in Australia and especially in the Perth area.

Nollamara is a relatively new town which wasn’t properly developed until the late 1940s. Construction sped up after the war when it became part of the Mirrabooka satellite city project. The area’s orchards and farms were replaced with houses and the suburb was officially named in 1954.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

One of the most important landmarks in Nollamara is a large water tower near the Mt Yokine reservoir.

There is also a shopping centre and a number of parks and reserves which include the beautiful Des Penman Memorial Reserve.
