Morley is a popular suburb of Perth, Western Australia and situated within the City of Bayswater local government area. It is 10 kilometres north-east of the Perth city centre and has a population of 20,301.
History
The suburb of Morley was first named Morley Park. A man called Charles William Morley was the first to use the land for farming during the 1860s and 1870s. It wasn’t until the late 1950s that Morley became the home of the Morley Park Hotel and the Boans department store. They were two of the first commercial sites to appear in the town.
In the 1980s, the number of businesses grew and lots of houses were built. Sadly, the Boans shop burnt down in 1986. It was replaced with the Galleria shopping centre in 1994. Morley is the town where Australian test cricketer Michael Hussey, Victorian bushranger cricketer David Hussey and singer Samantha Jade were raised.

The Galleria shopping centre in Morley is Western Australia’s 4th biggest shopping mall. Its shops include Woolworths, Coles, Target Australia and Myer. You can also find the Coventry Village shopping centre, which is more like a market. The district of Morley has over 500 retail stores in total.
In addition to being a shoppers paradise, Morley has a recreation centre. It is used for indoor soccer, badminton, netball, basketball, roller derby and roller skating.
