Manning is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It was founded in the 1940s and has a population of more than 9,500 people.

History

The land was originally purchased by Henry Manning in 1856. Manning’s grandson, John Daniel Manning had a dairy farm in the area. The suburb became a State Housing Commission project in 1948. It was named the Manning Estate during subdivision, and Manning eventually became the official name of the area.

Mark Manning, a direct descendant of Henry Manning and a civil engineer, has retained close links to the suburb by claiming it has been named in his honour.
