History

The area of Busselton was settled by the Bussell family in 1834. They moved to the town from Blackwood River when John Garrett Bussell discovered the land was good for farming. Busselton takes its name from the Bussell family It first officially used in 1835.

476 men who were born in Busselton signed up for service during World War II. There is a war memorial in the town displaying the names of the fallen.
