History

The Noongar people are the original inhabitants of Brookton. In 1846, John Seabrook became the first European to visit the area. Between the years of 1840 and 1860, saddlewood cutters began to arrive.

By the 1860s and 70s, cheap and wheat farms sprung up in the area. The land became an acreage for wheat growing and grazing. In 1895, the township was officially recognised and named Seabrook.
