Ringwood is a suburb of Victoria with an estimated population of 16,000. It is situated 23 kilometres east of the centre of Melbourne and has lots of wonderful parks and reserves.

History

The area now known as Ringwood was once used for agriculture. It emerged as a town in the 19th century with a post office opening in 1875. The build of the Hawthorn to Lilydale railway through the suburb made Ringwood a popular area.

In 1928, the Ringwood clock tower was built in remembrance to those who fought in the war. The Eastland shopping centre was opened in 1967.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Ringwood is often described as a mini city, as it has everything imaginable within walking distance. From an art gallery and train station to great nightlife and a newly renovated shopping centre, the suburb offers it all and more.

There is the State Diving Centre and Regional Aquatic Centre in Ringwood, as well as excellent sports clubs and schools.
