When you venture 10 kilometres north of Melbourne’s central business district, you’ll discover Pascoe Vale. It’s located in Victoria and has a population of 14,885.

History

Pascoe Vale gets its name from the John Pascoe Fawkner Estate. The estate was established in 1839 and originally held 709 acres of land.

In the 19th century, the town had a Cobb & Co waystation, which was later turned into a chicken farm. It is now a fast food chicken outlet.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area has lots of beautiful gardens and parks including Gavin Park, Cole Reserve, Kelvin Thomson Reserve and Austin Reserve. A popular swimming pool sits on Prospect Street and draws in crowds in the summer. When it comes to nightlife, you can pubs and take-away outlets open til late throughout the town.

Pascoe Vale also has lots of good schools and sporting clubs, as well as a veterinary clinic that is owned by the Australian celebrity vet, Dr Harry Cooper.
