Melton South is a suburb in Victoria located 35 kilometres west of Melbourne’s central business district. It has a population of around 8,900 and a good shopping strip.

History

In 1917, Melton South was a very quiet town. It didn’t have many residents and was quite underdeveloped. The post office opened in the same year and bought a few more faces to the area.

Melton South used to have a good medical centre, which was popular for many births in the 1970s and 1980s. Sadly, not many people wanted to pay the private fees as time went on and the hospital had to close down. A nursing home was put in its place.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

There are two shopping districts in Melton South. One is located on Exford Road and the other on Station Road. Melton South also has lots of beautiful parks including Mt Carberry, Melton South Oval and Blackwood Drive Reserve.

On top of that, the suburb has a fire station, cycle paths, train station, bus services and many schools.
