Mckinnon is a stunning suburb that is based 12 kilometres south-east of Melbourne’s central business district. It is located in Victoria and has a population of 5,553.

History

After the opening of the Mckinnon railway station in the early 1900s, the area expanded. However, the shops along the town’s main shopping strip began to close down at the same time. Luckily, in recent years, the shopping strip is better than ever before and now has a good number of cafes.

Mckinnon has a World War II memorial at Mckinnon Road, which is dedicated to the soldiers from the suburb who lost their lives in the war.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The pretty suburb has its own railway station on the Frankston line and a 626 bus service. Not only are there lots of 1930s Californian bungalows but Mckinnon is also full of modern apartments.

There are lots of lovely parks including Wattle Grove Park, Joyce Park and Allnutt Park. You can also find an Australian rules football team that competes in the Southern Football League.
