Grovedale is a suburb in the City of Greater Geelong. It is located on the Surfcoast Highway, and has a population of around 13,186.

History
Although it is now known as Grovedale, the area was once known as Germantown. This was because there were several German families who had settled in the area in 1849. However, after World War I, the name of the area was changed to Grovedale. Although Grovedale was settled in the late 1800s, residential expansion only started in the early 1960s, and continued on through the 1970s to the 1990s.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

With its location along the Surfcoast Highway, Grovedale has easy access to Geelong and the coastal town of Torquay. Grovedale has a leisure centre and several parks and reserves, as well as the East Belmont Saints Baseball Club. The Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre and cinema is also located within the bounds of Grovedale.
