The rural township of Drysdale near Geelong is located on the Bellarine Peninsula. The town was named after the former owner of Coriyule estate, Anne Drysdale. The origins of the area go back to the late 1840s when settlers first started moving into the area. It has a population of over 3,700 people.

History

The Post Office opened in 1855 on January 1st and the railway arrived at the local station in the township in 1879. Public services ceased in 1976 and it is now part of the Bellarine Peninsula Railway attraction and acts as the western terminus.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Drysdale is also a popular venue for the performing arts and music. An industrial sized venue known as “the Potato Shed” regularly hosts live performances and a yearly music festival named “the Battle of The Bands”.

The township has several schools including three high schools, one of which is a campus of the Christian College. The Drysdale Hawks compete in the Bellarine Football League playing Australian Rules Football.
