Doncaster East is a suburb of Victoria with a population of over 27,000. It is 22 kilometres north-east of Melbourne’s central business district and located between Koonung Creek and Mullum Mullum Creek.

History

The suburb was once home to the Wurundjeri people. Some time after, Doncaster East was used for agriculture. In the 1860s, German settlers planted pine trees that still exist in the area today.

Doncaster East was covered in fruit orchards before any houses were built on the land. It wasn’t until the 1990s when the last orchard was removed.

These days, Doncaster East boasts lots of parks and sporting facilities. There are also lots of Chinese restaurants, most of which offer outstanding food.

The area has places of worship, playgrounds, medical centres and retirement villages, as well as shopping strips and The Pines Shopping Centre.
