Dingley Village is a suburb of Melbourne with a population of 10,186. It is 22 kilometres to the south-east of Melbourne’s central business district, and is part of the City of Kingston.

History

Originally, Dingley Village was simply known as Dingley. It took its name from Dingley Grange. This was a house, built in 1856 by Thomas Attenborough. In turn, it took its name from Dingley Hall in Northamptonshire, England.
The area became increasingly urbanised in the 1960s. With popular Sunday markets giving the suburb a “village atmosphere”, the suburb was officially renamed Dingley Village.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Dingley Village is located near to Moorabbin Airport. It is home to the both the Kingsley Golf Club and Spring Park Public golf course. The suburb also boasts a range of facilities, including shopping centres, schools, and kindergarten.
Famously, Dingley Village was home to the rock band Jet.
