Caulfield North is a suburb, located 11km south-east of Melbourne’s central business district. It has a large Jewish population which makes up around 51% of its 14,554 total population.

History

The first post office in Caulfield North was opened in 1915 but the town itself was established much earlier. Many of the roads were named in the late 1950s after locations of famous battles from the Crimean war such as Inkerman, Raglan and Cardigan.

Caulfield North was once home to many fine Victorian mansions and estates, most of which have since been demolished to make way for the development of the town.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The stunning Labassa mansion at Manor Grove retains its Victorian grandeur and is now owned by the National Trust.

There are also several parks including the 26 hectare Caulfield Park which lies between Balaclava Road, Inkerman Road, Hawthorn Road and Park Crescent.
