Independent Health Care Service Pty Ltd

Independent Health Care Service Pty Ltd (IHCS) was established in 1992 by a small group of nurses. They identified that funding restraints on the existing services meant that there were many people living in the community with unmet care needs.

The community's need for trained Support Workers along with Registered Nurses was identified, so that a complete package of care could be accessed through a single organisation. This formed the basis of Independent Health Care Service's services.

IHCS provides nursing, personal care, home help and handyman services to many clients across Southern Tasmania and the Launceston area in Northern Tasmania. The programs IHCS service include DVA Nursing, Veterans Home Care, Disability Program, Consumer Directed Care and Home Care Packages. In addition, IHCS can provide services on a private basis, and through an agreement with other organisations.
