Our team of experienced dentists and dental assistants are dedicated to providing the very best of oral care while delivering exceptional service to our valued clients.

We offer preventative, restorative and cosmetic procedures using state-of-the-art equipment, including 3D imaging. Our staffs know that a trip to the dentist can sometimes cause anxiety, so we try to make it as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Therefore we have created a relaxation room to welcome our patients on arrival. It incorporates a tranquil water feature and comfortable armchairs along with reading material for all ages.

Despite recent advances in technology and comfort, many people still don't consider dental work until they get a toothache or lose a tooth through decay or injury. But modern dentistry isn't just about repairing problems. It's also about creating more pleasing smiles to boost your confidence and self-esteem, and about preventing problems before they escalate. That's why we recommend regular six-monthly check-ups for everyone including children from the time they have their first tooth.

We offer the HICAPS service for clients with private health insurance and in most cases can process your rebate at the time of payment.

I am afraid of going to the dentist ... What can I do?

Fear of the dentist is quite common. Our Dentists are aware of the prevalence of dental anxiety and are trained to work with you and help you overcome these fears by making your visits comfortable and pleasant. Asking questions about your mouth and proposed treatment will help to remove fear of the unknown and give you an opportunity to become involved in your dental health. Most importantly, remember that your Dentist is eager to work with you, not just on you, in order to achieve a mutual goal
When should I take my child to the dentist?

Your child's first teeth erupt around 6 months old. For the prevention of dental problems, Aura Dental recommend your child should be seen at 1 year of age. This first visit will help your child to become acquainted with our office and develop a relationship with the dentist and staff, as well as a chance to help educate parents to properly care for their child's teeth.
Are baby teeth really that important to my child?

The first primary teeth erupt between 6 - 12 months of age. The timing varies for each individual, but all 20 baby teeth are usually in by 3 years of age. I'm interested in changing the appearance of my teeth. What options are available?

Various options are available to change the appearance of teeth, make teeth look longer, close spaces between teeth or repair chipped or cracked teeth- talk to your dentist about; Composite restorations are fillings that match the colour of your natural teeth Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that are placed over teeth Veneers are thin custom-made shells that cover the front surface of teeth These options differ with regard to cost, durability and chair time necessary to complete the procedure
There are so many toothpastes to choose from; how do I know which one to use?

When purchasing toothpaste for you or your child, we usually recommend selecting one that contains fluoride. Fluoride toothpastes have been shown to prevent cavities. For children under age 6 use an age specific toothpaste as adult toothpastes can have a higher level of fluoride. Ask your dentist which sort of toothpaste they recommend to address any concerns with your mouth at the time.
Which is better, a manual toothbrush or an electric toothbrush?

Research shows that both powered and manual toothbrushes are equally effective when used properly. The best way to be sure you are caring for your teeth properly is to discuss your home care and needs with your dentist or hygienist.
What causes cavities?

Bacteria and acid cause cavities Having bacteria in your mouth is normal. Some bacteria are harmful, most are not and some are helpful. Certain types can attach to the enamel and if not removed, multiply and mix with saliva to form plaque, this is what causes cavities Refined carbohydrates or sugars are ingested, the bacteria present in the mouth use the sugar and convert it to acid that dissolves tooth enamel. The acid attacks start immediately after consuming sugars and last up to 30 minutes.
How often should I go to my dentist for a check-up?

Your dentist is trained to detect and treat many problems before you are even aware of them. The goal is prevention - prevent disease, decay and tooth loss. Only you and your dentist can determine how often to make a visit, but for most people, twice a year is sufficient. They are necessary for regular assessments of the condition and the wellbeing of your mouth. Regular check-ups are a MUST in the fight against gum disease.
