Home to almost 8,000 people, Holland Park is an older suburb in Brisbane. It’s also home to the oldest crematorium in Queensland!

History

Holland Park gets its name from Julius Holland who once owned 150 acres of land. In 1882, he sold Holland Estate. The land was divided and became the start of the suburb as it is today.

Holland Park has mainly post-World War II wooden homes. The famous Mt Thompson Crematorium is heritage-listed. Built in 1934, it is the oldest crematorium in Queensland. The original building is a good example of the art deco movement.

Trams once operated down the main street, Logan Road. These were discontinued in April 1969.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

There are many schools and parks in Holland Park. There is also a strip of local shops, complete with a pub!

The suburb belongs to the City of Brisbane council. It’s under the State electorate of Greenslopes.
