Diddillibah is a suburb of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. It’s based 100km north of Brisbane, and forms part of the Sunshine Coast Region local government area. Diddillibah has a population of more than 1,100.

History

Named after an old word for carpet snake, Diddillibah was first developed by Europeans in the 1860s. It was used mostly for farming, until sugar mills began to spring up in the 1880s. Lumber was another source of industry, with logs cut down and floated to nearby mills on the Petrie Creek. Diddillibah was sometimes written as “Diddillibah”, with the current spelling settled on in 1994.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Diddillibah is known for several big attractions. Maroochy River Resort borders on the suburb’s east, with Eudlo Creek Conservation Park found just below. BIG4 Rivershore Resort is just off David Low Way, which runs through the north-east of Diddillibah. Various other shops and businesses are also dotted throughout the suburb.
