The small town of Currumbin Valley is a suburb in the Gold Coast Hinterland. It is in south-east Queensland and has a population of 1,700 people.

History

Settlement of the area dates back to the 1840s. The land at that time was mainly used for timber and grazing. In the 1870s new industries arrived. These included banana plantations, sugar crops and dairy farms.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Today, Currumbin Valley is a rural spot with some residential areas. It is a pleasant area with beautiful scenery.

Nearby Springbrook National Park has many attractive features including a World heritage-listed rainforest walk.

There are a large number of other sporting and tourist attractions in the town. These include the Currumbin Valley Rock Pools. They are a popular tourist destination just 12 kilometres from the town itself.
