Condon is a suburb in Townsville, QLD. It is part of the Upper Ross District and has a population of 5,700 people.

History

The first residential development was established in the town in 1968. It was named in honour of the Condon family who had settled on the Ross River and created a dairy farm in the area.

The Ross River is of major importance in the area and provides most of Townsville’s water. A number of small townships were established along the river’s path.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Today, Townsville is a major tourist destination. The central section of the world heritage site, The Great Barrier Reef, can be accessed from the town. The main motorway in the area runs through Condon.

It is also home to the Thuringowa State High School.
