Caboolture is an urban city in the state capital of Queensland. It has an estimated population of over 59,000 and is situated 44 kilometres north of Brisbane.

History

The Kabi people once lived in Caboolture. They harvested bush food, seafood and game animals. Every year in March, they held Bunya Festivals to feast on the nuts of the Bunya Pine. Other clans were invited to the festivals to eat, sing and dance.

In the 19th century, Europeans came to the area and later began experimenting with cotton and cane sugar. It wasn’t until 1888 when the railway line from Brisbane was opened.

Caboolture has a wonderful selection of Thai, pizza and seafood restaurants, as well as takeaway outlets. There is a wide range of sports and leisure activities to choose from, as it’s a great sporting town.

You can also take your pick from a number of schools and community events. The area is a transport hub with its own railway station and lots of bus services.
