History

A man named John Oxley was the first European to see Tweed Heads South in 1823. He said that the area has the most beautiful scenery he had ever seen.

The railway station opened in 1903 and was connected to the Queensland Railways system. Nowadays, you will find parklands and shops where the station once sat.

Tweed Heads South is a popular tourist destination and home to the very large volcano called Mt Warning. The area also boasts Springbrook and Lamington National Parks.
