Padstow is a suburb with a village atmosphere in the state of New South Wales. It is situated 22 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district and has a population of around 12,700.

History

The area of Padstow was originally named Padstow Park Estate after the town of Padstow in Cornwall, England. Padstow was mainly used for farming and it was also a place to find timber.

Padstow’s first school opened in 1929 and the railway station appeared in 1931. The suburb was officially named Padstow in 1939.

Padstow has a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. It also offers medical centres, schools and churches.
