Jannali is a suburb with a population of around 6,000 people, located 28km south of the Sydney central business district. It is a residential suburb but also has bushland reserves and a commercial area near Jannali Station.

History

The town of Jannali was developed following the arrival of a railway line in 1884, but Jannali railway station wasn’t built until 1931. Following World War II, land was offered to soldiers and the town slowly began to attract more people to the area.

Jannali takes its name from the Aboriginal word which translates as ‘The Place Of The Moon’

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The Jannali Reserve is situated in the west of the town. It has a large recreational area which features playgrounds and a diverse range of flora and fauna.

The main shopping area is located around the Jannali railway station. There are several shops, cafes, restaurants and other businesses situated along Box Road.
