Based in the ACT, Pearce is a residential suburb in Canberra. It lies in the district of Woden Valley. Its neighbouring suburbs are Torrens, Mawson and Chifley. According to the 2011 census, Pearce has a population of over 2,500 people.

History

The town takes its name from Sir George Pearce. He is known as the longest serving Minister and Senator in Australia’s Federal history. Established in 1967, Pearce is considered to be a new suburb.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The town of Pearce has three schools. These school are Marist College, Melrose High School, and Sacred Heart Primary School. It has a small shopping centre and a neighbourhood oval.

Pearce is framed by the Mt Taylor Nature Reserve to the west. An area of greenery forms the border between Chifley in the north.
