History

Harrison takes its name from Peter Harrison, the city planner. In the 1950s, Peter Harrison wanted to have Walter Burley Griffin’s plan for the capital fulfilled. He was a driving force behind the decision. Canberra’s continued growth is a testament to his legacy. Since 2008, three new schools have opened in Harrison.

Harrison is a family-friendly area with lots of modern housing. Residents have easy access to both Canberra and Gungahlin. Parks include Carrick Park and Kevin Godkin Park.
